Young Oliver Curd died in November 2007 having battled bravely against Ewing’s Sarcomo, a form of cancer. During his illness his parents, Richard and Sarah Curd, were supported by family and friends, by the Conquest and Royal Marsden Hospitals and by cancer charities. Rye Lions First Lady
Rye & District Lions Club which was founded in 1976 inducted their first lady member, Gill McGannan, at their April meeting. Gill is the National Strategy Science Consultant for Kent County Council and lives in Rye. Although the Club is now in its thirty-second year, it has until now been an all male group.
