Rye Chosen for Hospice Neighbours Launch

When you are living with a life limiting illness, the world doesn’t stop and there are many everyday tasks that still need to be done. For those living with illness, the added upset of facing an overgrown garden that cannot be maintained or the difficult decision of losing a much loved pet that can’t be exercised can add even more distress to an already testing time. A new service provided by St Michael’s Hospice and launching in Rye aims to alleviate these pressures by seeking ‘Hospice Neighbours’ to help those in need. On Sunday 31st May 2009 the last survivor from the TITANIC disaster died. Millvina Dean aged 97 years was living at a nursing home in Hampshire and only this year stars involved in the Hollywood blockbuster film of the tragedy agreed to contribute £20,000 to her fees.
