Hastings Old Town Carnival Week is a mainly free event (that doesn’t mean you can’t give a donation!) organised jointly by the Hastings Old Town Carnival Association (www.1066.net/carnival) and the Old Hastings Preservation Society (www.ohps.org.uk). The Grand Opening of Old Town Week takes place on Saturday 31st July on Winkle Island and is followed by a full week of events. Bonfire Magic
Its that time of year again. The Bonfire Boys Flag flies over The Landgate and preparations are being made for the annual invasion of the streets of Rye by pirates, witches, Kings and Queens, skeletons, wenches, Cavaliers and Roundheads. The Bonfire Societies are almost exclusively from East Sussex and have a history that goes back even before the fateful night that Guy Fawkes and his cronies attempted to blow up Parliament.
