Cycle / Footway Open – Now we Must Move on

With the completion, at long last, of the cycle / Footway linking Rye & Rye Harbour we must move on and get the cycle route around Rye under construction.

East Sussex County Councillor Carl Maynard open’s Graham’s Way with Graham’s Father Brian who has never given up the struggle to get the Cycle / Footway from Rye to Rye Harbour completed since his sons untimely death on the notorious stretch of Road in 2004. Graham’s Way will be Officially Opened Next Tuesday

It is almost eleven years since Graham Matthews was knocked off his bike on Rye Harbour Road and killed.

Udimore V Flimwell 1967

Udimore had a good football team in 1967. The Bentley at the Mermaid

 

In 1962 J E Hollands & Sons the Rye Television firm won a Bentley Open Tourer in an RGD Television Sales Competition.

Arthur Woodgate 1913 – 2015

Arthur passed away in Rye Memorial Hospital at 6 am. yesterday morning.

IN the March 2010 issue of “Rye’s Own” the following pieces commented once again on the fact that Rye Town Council has less power than a village council – Governments Change, Councillors Change but it seems that Rye Town Councillors, whoever they might be, cannot see there is a way to get real decision making back to Rye Town Hall.
