Udimore had a good football team in 1967. Local Soccer in the 60s

England won the World Cup in 1966 and this event sparked a ‘soccer boom’ in the country. So many youngsters took up the game, overfilling places in local teams many times over. Rye Primary Football Team 1956

The Primary School team.

Most of these lads went on to play football after leaving school.
Terry Lane formed the Reckitt & Coleman team which was later to become
Rye Athletic. Laurence Igglesden played for Athletic before leaving

Iden  The Cup Fighters.

With the end of the season in sight the clubs are jockeying for position in their respective leagues. For Rye and local clubs Cup prospects have disappeared.
Little Iden, riding high on the top of the Hastings League Division IV table, have carried the cup banner the longest, eventually being knocked out of the Lower Divisions Cup by Division III league leaders, Clive Vale.
