Third film in our series ‘Rye in the 60’s and 70’s features Rye Athletic Football Club. This film will be posted on the Rye’s Own website tomorrow The local team founded by Terry Lane and managed by Player / Manager Terry Spencer, went on to achieve great things.
Rye Primary Football Team 1956
The Primary School team. Photograph sent in by Keith Fitzhugh. Most of these lads went on to play football after leaving school. Terry Lane formed the Reckitt & Coleman team which was later to become Rye Athletic. Laurence Igglesden played for Athletic before leaving school and went on to play for Rye United.
