Local Soccer in the 60s
England won the World Cup in 1966 and this event sparked a ‘soccer boom’ in the country. So many youngsters took up the game, overfilling places in local teams many times over. Established teams created 2nd. and 3rd, elevens and new teams were born in towns and villages around the country.

LAST FOUR DAYS Wild boar is a regular feature of the woods around the beautiful medieval town of Rye, and this year Rye goes ‘wild’ about boar, celebrating this local delicacy of the field, from 27 October – 4 November 2012.

Glenda Procter Rye is a beautiful medieval town, seemingly unchanged by the passing decades. It has wonderfully preserved ancient buildings, many of them pubs, inns, hotels and restaurants.

More Previously Unpublished Photographs. Pictures from the Albert Sanders Collection. It seemed that half the population of Rye was employed when the film ‘Dunkirk’ produced by was made in the town and the surrounding area in the early summer of 1957.
