It is with great sadness I have to report the death of another Rye Champion.
Arthur passed away in Rye Memorial Hospital at 6 am. yesterday morning.
His death is felt especially here at “Rye’s Own” where we all knew him so well. Continue reading Arthur Woodgate 1913 – 2015
The thousands that attended the Rye Show on Saturday 16 August were treated to a fantastic selection of displays throughout the day, including the hit from 2013, the Dog Grand National. This year’s Rye Show, at Lea Barn Farm, Rye Foreign, attracted an enormous crowd but there were no problems as the organisers had a plan of action which ensured quick parking on the ground an very little disruption to local traffic. The Rye Town Manager was designated, through Rye Partnership, to co-ordinate the closure arrangements. Keen and efficient as Yolanda Laybourne is she did not have the local knowledge to carry out this task, it should have been the elected Rye Town Council made responsible for the job, not the non-elected Partnership. Continue reading Town Crier July 2006
