RYE TOWN AMATEUR BOXING CLUB OFF TO WALES

A strong and dedicated team of 16 boxers from Rye Town Amateur Boxing Club will be heading off to Wales on Friday 8th March 2013 to take on their biggest challenge to date. The challenge named Operation Lion Heart will see Rye’s Boxing Team led by coaches Dean Turner and Carl Turner, engage in combat with two local Welsh Boxing Clubs, one after the other, immediately followed by a 3,560ft climb to the summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales, Mount Snowdon. RRye United’s glorious run in the FA Carlsberg Vase came to an end in one of the most exciting Vase matches ever witnessed. The match, which took place on a rain sodden Salts resulted in a see-saw battle that ended in extra time with Guernsey FC beating Rye by the odd goal in eleven. Wheelers Triumph In Kent

Local cycling club, Rye & District Wheelers have made history in Kent Cycling circles by becoming the first club ever to win the KCA Best All Rounder Team Trophy, an event which aggregates the best times over distances of 25, 50, 100 miles and 12 Hours by the fastest three riders from one club in a season, with two women representatives in the team.
