Dreams of Marrakesh

LOCAL AUTHOR TO RIVAL FIFTY SHADES OF GREY?

“A piquant mix of love and strange desires”

Kent resident Greg Thompson, who retired as Head of Research with Kent Police in 2003, and lives on Romney Marsh, close to the Sussex border, has just written and published his debut novel – Dreams of Marrakesh. It is the story of two women who fall in love and allow their sadomasochistic desires free rein during an idyllic summer spent in the countryside of France. Along the way this mix of romance and thriller moves between the scenic backdrops of London, Paris, New York, and rural France. Continue reading Dreams of Marrakesh

Rye,Hythe & Romney Runners Well Represented in 30th. Hastings’ Half Marathon

Ion would have brought Happy Harold, Hastings’ own 1928 former trolleybus to enhance the spectacle and provide a viewing platform but unfortunately the extensive repairs to his engine (the ‘bus, not Ion) are taking longer that had been hoped for and HH remained in the depot. Continue reading Rye,Hythe & Romney Runners Well Represented in 30th. Hastings’ Half Marathon

Jimper’s Jottings

2014 and already our food growers are wondering what is going on. The second week of January saw my gooseberry bushes bursting their buds to form leaves. A blackbird built its nest in the ivy on an old damson tree and laid four blue speckled eggs. All the mallard duck were paired off by the end of the month, as the shooting season closed a good month off other years. In my wild-bird seed mix a certain brand includes peas, even in January, any of the peas that fell to the ground and were not eaten by the pheasants started to sprout. Maggie’s Musings Decorating Blues

By Maggie George

I hate decorating; I loathe the upheaval of clearing rooms of furniture and I dislike the stench of paint. My clothing gets covered with splatters and spills and the wet paintwork is a magnet for pet hairs. The cat’s tail becomes a furry roller as it’s brushed against the paint tray, leaving it looking more skunk than feline. Then there’s the cleaning of brushes afterwards, so I can never understand people who have the urge to decorate their homes on a running cycle, beginning all over again once the last room is complete.
