A Community Centre for Tilling Green – The Film

A film made in conjunction with the people of Tilling Green in the period after the Tilling Green School Closed and the building stood empty.

Another Irreplaceable Rye Community Facility about to be Demolished

The following film “The Future of Tilling Green”, was made a few years ago when the Primary School on Mason Road was closed, the electrics and gas stripped out so it could not be used, and the building was boarded up waiting for an excuse for demolition.

This was the same underhand method that was used with the Ferry Road Primary School. It was abandoned and one building suffered an arson attack. This was used as an excuse to demolish the other buildings. ESCC failed miserably to find a buyer and the community was robbed of a fine site for a library and sports facilities. TILLING GREEN RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION On Saturday 12th April the Tilling Green Residents Association held its annual Easter Event at the Tilling Green Community Centre. On January 28th TGRA arranged for the Rye Neighbourhood plan to do a presentation of the plan at the Tilling Green Community Centre. Many at the meeting asked about the dispute between Sainsbury and Tesco to build a supermarket at the former Lower School site. Continue reading Tilling Green

Tilling Green Resident’s Association

By Dan Lake In December we held a Magical Christmas Bonanza at the Tilling Green Community Centre where the kids got to meet Father Christmas and also get a small gift and a certificate. We had face painting, a kids craft corner where there was drawing, colouring and making melting snowmen and we also had a tombola and other things for adults etc. Everybody that came seem to have a good time.
