Rye Scouts ran a table sale and a guess the dogs date of birth competition, Tilling Green Community Friends and their young helpers were selling home made cakes and organised a guess the number of eggs in a jar competition, Rye Pre-School Playgroup had a playing card tombola, Rye Girl Guides a table sale, Rye Sea Cadets & Rother Responders both had information tables and TGRA run an adults and kids tombola which helped pay for the hire of the hall. Rye Dance Centre came along with some of their younger performers and did a great 20 minute dance display which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance. A face painting table, a kids corner where kids could design a pretend egg and draw pictures went down well and there was even a special appearance from the Easter bunny handing out free Cadburys Crème Eggs and Haribo sweets to the children. Chairman Dan Lake thanks all the volunteers that helped on the day and also the events committee who did a great job in organising the event. The events committee will shortly be starting to arrange the annual summer fete if anyone has any ideas please do not hesitate to contact Dan on 07584435732 or [email protected].

TILLING GREEN COMMUNITY FRIENDS On the 15th March, Tilling Green Community Friends celebrated their 1st successful year of giving a ‘helping hand’ to residents of Tilling Green, & Badgers Gate, by completing over 500 tasks for clients and for the Community. In conjunction with Tilling Green Residents Association a ‘Litter Pick’ took place with assistance from volunteers, young helpers, Rye Police & residents. A large amount of rubbish was collected and disposed of by the volunteers. The Group now has a Craft Section so if anyone needs a ‘helping hand’ with sewing, knitting, card making, or any other crafty things, just telephone the group or attend the monthly craft sessions at Badger Gate. Should any resident need help with shopping or someone to help carry those heavy bags, we have a new shopping initiative on a fortnightly basis where volunteers & helpers will be able to go on the Jempson bus with them to give assistance where required. Should anyone require this service, please let us know. We now have a new phone holder available to take your calls. Barbara Ross can be contacted on group mobile 07972 262 973. This number has an answerphone so messages can be left should she be unavailable. She will return your call as soon as possible. If anyone has some spare time & would like to volunteer, please contact us. We are especially looking for volunteer drivers for hospital visits, doctors’ appointments, shopping etc., if you can help please contact Mike Bell on 07760104313.
