He Loved Rye and Rye Loved Him

St Mary’s Church was packed for the John Izod Memorial Service at 11 am. today (Wednesday 6 May).  John’s early years were recalled by his younger brother Andrew and recalled John’s life from childhood, wartime years, education, army life and adventures in Canada.

Lunch With the Lions

More than 80 senior citizens from Rye and nearby villages enjoyed a Sunday lunch by courtesy of Rye & District Lions Club. The lunch was laid on at Rye Community Centre and all seniors that required transport were collected by Rye Community Transport and Lion Club members cars and returned home at the end of the afternoon. This last few weeks have been as busy as ever with engagements in and around the Town, Lyn and I have been on the “Chain Train” this was organised by the Mayor of Tenterden and included lunch on the Kent and East Sussex steam train, many Mayors were present and for many, me included, one of the last engagements that will take place this civic year.
