EU – You Decide

The forthcoming vote to remain in, or leave, the European Union is the most important decision most of us will have to make in our lifetime.

Do not be swayed by personalities, politicians or fanatics on either side. YOUR VOTE is just as important as that of David Cameron, Boris Johnson,  Tony Blair,  Nigel Farage, Jeremy Corbyn, Nicola Sturgeon, Tim Farron, or your favourite pop star. Each vote is EQUAL in power, it counts as one stay in or one leave.

Don’t be fooled by passion, or anyone with a vested interest, look at the FACTS. “Rye’s Own” will present the facts as we understand them and publish the source Continue reading EU – You Decide

“Morning ..just thought I’d send you a message and let you know that my dad Clifford Bloomfield ..of Aronford  Leasam  Lane, passed away on Friday morning at home with his family ….as I know he was often adding to Rye’s Own and a local Rye historian, absolutely devoted to Rye history ..and a very active member of Rye History Group..and author of several small books including ”Wings Over Rye”… ..funeral date and arrangements to follow …

Rye on the Short List for Preservation CBA list of historic towns

In 1964 the Council for British Archaeology issued a memorandum drawing attention to the implications of the Buchanan report, Traffic in towns, for preserving ‘historic town plans’ and buildings. The memorandum also promised a list of towns in Britain, the historic quality of which particularly required careful treatment in planning or redevelopment proposals. This list of historic towns was subsequently published in July 1965. The council’s list contains 324 towns of which 51 were considered to be of special importance Continue reading Rye on Short List for Preservation
