Two teenagers charged following violent incidents in Hastings and St Leonards
Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with offences following local police investigations into violent incidents in St Leonards and Hastings.
A 17-year old boy has been charged with grievous bodily harm following an attack in Norman Road, St Leonards, at 9.20pm on Tuesday (23 January). The 16-year-old victim was hit over the head and needed several stitches in the wound.
The same 17-year-old has also been charged with witness intimidation, affray and possession of an offensive weapon – a knife – following a separate incident in White Rock Road, Hastings, at 8.45pm on the same evening, in which an 18-year-old man was allegedly approached and threatened by three young men with knives. A St Leonards woman has been sentenced over multiple frauds totalling more than £20,000 in East Sussex.
Kelly Jane Hodd, 29, unemployed, of Martingale Close, St Leonards on Sea appeared at Lewes Crown Court on 29 September, having pleaded guilty at earlier hearings to 19 counts of fraud and related offences and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years on each count, to run concurrently.
She was also ordered to undertake 240 hours of unpaid work.
Two sentenced to five years for Hastings street attack
Two 21-year old men have each been sentenced to five years imprisonment for a vicious late night street attack in Hastings town centre two years ago.
Conor Hodge (pictured left), unemployed, of Priory Road, Hastings, and Jason Easton (pictured right), a student, of Lullington Close, Bexhill, were sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 3 March having been convicted of grievous bodily harm, at the same court on 16 January. St Leonards man has been sentenced to more than ten years imprisonment for drugs and firearms offences.
Carlton Meldrum, 23, of The Ridge, St Leonards, was sentenced to seven years for possessing heroin with intent to supply when he appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on 30 March having previously pleaded guilty. A mother has been sentenced for killing her baby son in East Sussex, four years after being sentenced for killing her three-year old daughter.
Lesley Dunford, 37, of Windermere Close, Exeter, Devon, was sentenced for the second time when she appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday (15 April), after pleading guilty at a hearing at the same court in March to the murder of her seven month-old son, Harley, at the family’s then address in Pelwood Road, Camber, on 27 August 2003. Two people have appeared in court after police recovered a firearm in Hastings.
Tamara Callan, 42, and Antony Hearn, 43, appeared in custody, via videolink, at Brighton Magistrates Court on Thursday (3 March), charged with possession of a semi-automatic machine pistol and ammunition with intent to endanger life, contrary to Section 16 of the Firearms Act 1968.
