Hastings Man Sentenced to Life

Hastings man sentenced to life imprisonment for sex assaults on girls

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a series of sexual offences against four young girls.

Marcus Hannon, 35, is one of three people from Hastings who have been sentenced on Friday (15 July) over the systematic sexual abuse of a 13-year old girl.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at Hastings Town Hall.

At around 6.45pm on Monday (4 July) a man broke into the building, got into several rooms and stole some £300 from a safe.

Jimper  Leaves Rye for the Last Time

The funeral for Jimper at St. Mary’s Church was a very special event. Saying goodbye to a person whose presence was so powerful and who filled any room he entered, was not easy.

A very sad occasion was made so much easier in the knowledge that Jimper himself would have approved of all the arrangements that were made by his family and the wonderful support the Bonfire Boys gave by attending in Bonfire Dress and drumming him to the Church. One of Rye’s best loved characters will be laid to rest today, Friday 8 July.

Jimper Sutton’s Funeral Cortège will be led by Bonfire Society drummers from the Landgate to St. Mary’s Church, Rye for the 11 am. Service.
