In 1962 J E Hollands & Sons the Rye Television firm won a Bentley Open Tourer in an RGD Television Sales Competition.

The Fun Fair still comes to Rye on the Fair Salts, as it has for two hundred years or more – We can’t go back in our archives that far but take a look at this piece of film from 1963 (or thereabouts) and see if you can pick out anyone you know – If you are old enough you may even get a bigger surprise and catch a glimpse of your good self enjoying the Fun of the Fair.

This old 8mm cine film of Hastings Carnival was made in 1969. It is a precious record of local characters who took part in the procession. “Rye’s Own” took the film because the 1969 Miss Rye’s Own, Frederica Barwood, was entered in the event and driven in the procession in a Jaguar Sports car owned by Robert Hollands.
