Serious Accident at Winchelsea

Appeal for witnesses to serious collision in Winchelsea

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a car in Monks Walk, Winchelsea, at midday on Sunday (7 August).

A Mazda 6 car was in collision with a Kawazaki motorbike being driven by a 21-year-old man from Rye who suffered serious injuries. He was flown to St George’s Hospital Tooting where he is in a critical but stable condition. His pillion passenger, a woman aged 21 from Hastings was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious leg injuries.

The car driver, a 79-year-old Hastings man, was uninjured.

Sergeant Sarah Porter said: “We are appealing for anyone who either saw the collision or believe they saw either of the vehicles being driven before the collision to contact us.”

Aircraft Crashes in Sea Off Winchelsea Beach

Investigation continues into air crash off Winchelsea Beach
Witness Appeal
Just after 5pm on Saturday (6 August) A report was made by a member of the public that a light aircraft had been seen to go into the sea about half a mile off Winchelsea Beach.
