Over the years many small pubs and beer houses have come and gone in the Old Town of Hastings, none more so than in All Saints Street and the twittens that run in to it from both sides. Some of these premises have a very complete history, of some virtually nothing is known, whilst others never aspired to being identified by a name. I’m a regular reader of Hastings Town, am Hon. Secretary of Hastings Local History Group, and since being made redundant from Hastings College I have been indulging my long-standing interests in history and embroidery by researching the Bayeux Tapestry and all things 11th. century. After a hard winter and a terrible Easter the seafront shops are at last able to look forward to some bright sunshine. Despite setbacks of weather, increasing parking charges and ever higher rents and rates, traders in the Old Town and along the seafront are doing their best to keep the area alive and vibrant.
