Cinderella
Christmas Entertainment Pantomine from Theatrebox Drama Students of Rye
By Amber Carroll
What a wonderful afternoon at the first performance from the Rye students of TheatreBox. The students delivered a magnificent showing to a small but true panto style participating audience.
From the first act to the final bow, the performers were confident, funny and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The play was written especially by Artistic Director, Ciaran Bird to introduce and share the students’ “work in progress”, creation of character, teamwork and their commitment to the classes. The costumes and make up were exquisite and the students theatrically entered into the spirit delighting the audience, particular comedy was delivered by the wicked stepmother (Richard) and Buttons (Jasmine).
As mentioned in my previous piece introducing Theatrebox Drama School in December, for many of the students it was a new experience, not only performing to an audience but holding a speaking part.
During the interval, there was an added twist of an Australian Raffle and “armies” of Reindeer and Snowmen Cup Cakes (provided by The Cup Cake Cafe, Hastings)…….yum…..what more could one want on a cold winters Sunday afternoon.
Ciaran Bird and Rachel Kimber commented that they were extremely proud of the students and are looking forward to further opportunities in the New Year.
Visit the website to see the fab photographs which really captured the performances, taken by Sammi Drew , Drayton Studios.
The new term starts on Sunday 15th January 2012 and Theatrebox are offering a free class to all (ages 7-17) on that day at Rye Community Centre, Conduit Hill in the upper hall from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Why not go along and see for yourselves how fun and rewarding it is.
They are also holding a free class at their Hastings class on Friday 13th January 2012.
Finally, Theatrebox are commencing LAMDA speech and drama examination tuition from January 2012 and Senior Classes (14-17 years) for students who are currently studying GCSE drama at School/College, to assist for the preparation for audition pieces and/or agent auditions.
