The BBQ was arranged by Ronnie Simmons and Harbour Master James Bateman, The Simmons family and guests enjoyed a great afternoon. Ronnie thanks for the help of Tush Hamalton  and his wife Pat who supplied the fish rolls free of charge Chapmans Fish and Jenco who contributed to the alcohol
The Barbecue at Simmons Quay celebrated ten years of activity at the home of the Rye Fishing Fleet.

St Rumbold’s Raft Race

Bonnington Spectacular

The Biannual Raft Race on Sunday 19 June featured colour, design and ingenuity in abundance. There were rafts of all shapes and sizes and the majority of  rafters came in fancy dress.

This film depicts events leading up to the start of the first race and features many local people.

There will be many pictures from the races in the next Issue, Number Ten, of “Cinque Ports”. Copies will be available from your local newsagent from Monday 27 June 2016

Hastings – Cinque Port

The 1840 Sussex Directory claimed that Hastings was the head of the Cinque Ports Confederation before telling us it was a Corporate and Parliamentary Borough, demonstrating the importance still placed in the Cinque Ports heritage at that time, even though the Kent & Sussex fleet’s days of glory were well over by the time of the Spanish Armada, when just twelve vessels from the Cinque Ports were represented in Drake’s fleet.
