Driver and witnesses sought after boy is hurt in Hastings collision

 

Police wish to trace the driver of a black 4×4 or sports utility vehicle which failed to stop at the scene following a collision with a 12-year-old boy in Winchelsea Lane, opposite the Hastings Academy, Ore, shortly before 4pm on Monday (29 January).

The child sustained a fractured right knee and was treated at the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards-on-Sea.

Hastings Man Seriously Injured at Beckley

Motor-cyclist injured in Beckley road incident

 

Police are seeking witnesses to a road incident in Beckley in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured.

The incident happened in Furnace Lane, Beckley at 4.45pm on Wednesday (29 November).

Rye Man Hurt in Motor Cycle Accident

Witness appeal after car and motorcycle collide near Bodiam

 

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the B2244 Junction Road between Sedlescombe and Hawkhurst, some 400 metres south of its junction with Bodiam Road, which occurred on Friday 20 October and involved a car and a motorcycle.
The rider of a silver Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, a 25-year-old man from Rye, sustained a fractured wrist and severe grazing for which he was treated at the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards-on-Sea. The driver of the silver BMW 3-series car involved, a 20-year-old man from Tonbridge, Kent, was unhurt.
The collision occurred at around 2.15pm. Anyone who saw what happened or who noticed either vehicle being driven shortly beforehand is asked to contact police online or phone 101, quoting serial 753 of 20/10.

Rye man badly hurt in collision

Motorcyclist badly hurt in crash at Camber, near Rye

At around 2pm on Saturday (30 September) a John Deere tractor and a Triumph TT600 motorcycle were in collision on Lydd Road, Camber, close to the village memorial hall..

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance attended and the motorcyclist, from nearby Rye, was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious injuries.

The road was closed for almost four hours while the incident was dealt with.

The tractor driver was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

Anyone who saw what happened or who may have other relevant information is asked to contact police online or phone 101, quoting Operation Abingdon.

Hugh Sutton’s Shop Smashed By Car

In the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 2 May) the famous fish shop belonging to Hugh Sutton was badly damaged by a car which collided with the building after leaving the road and smashing through the  garden. It ended up embedded into the side of the shop,

Cyclist injured at Stones Cross

Police and Ambulance Praised for Swift Response

A cyclist was injured in an accident at Stonescross on the Aldington / Ham Street Road this morning.

He was concious and sitting up in the pictures from the accident scene, and treated on the spot before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Major Shipping Incident Near Dover

Large ship is taking on water

650 foot Cargo vessel sailing under a Hong Kong flag loses engine power near Sanfire Hoe off Dover. She dragged her anchor  and collided with barge full of rocks (used for coastal defences). Coastguard reports the ship was holed and is taking water faster than her pumps can pump it out.

Dover and Dungeness Lifeboats have been launched and are standing by. Some of the crew have already been evacuated by helicopter. (11 reported to be airlifted off)

A powerful tug is racing to the scene from Boulogne and plans to tow the stricken vessel to safety

Ship involved appears to be the Saga Sky. A message from her at 10.19am says she is now under her own power speed 1.2 knotts. Lifeboats standing by. (Thanks to Jamie Hayden who worked out which ship it appears to be)

Latest position approx. 1.5 miles off Capel Le Ferne.

The French Tug  ABEILLE LANGUEDOC should be on the scene by 12 noon.

Reports are coming in of obstacles and branches littering the road from Brenzett to New Romney. Several cars with buckled wheels due to hitting large branches etc. blown onto the road by the storm.

Camber Sands deaths – further appeal for witnesses

A coroner has appealed for more witnesses to come forward after five people died at Camber Sands on a single day this summer.

The five men, all from the London area, died on Wednesday, 24 August despite efforts to save them. The men, who all knew each other, were friends and family had travelled to Sussex together for a day out.
