Cannabis worth tens of thousands seized at house in Hastings
On Friday (29 April) police officers acting on information from within the community raided a house in Oakfield Road, Ore, Hastings, and seized more than 70 cannabis plants being cultivated within the property.
It was estimated they could yield some £60,000 worth of the Class B prohibited drug on the black market.
Also seized was hydroponics equipment used to grow the drug.
A 33-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and is expected to be bailed while enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Paul Graham, of Hastings CID, said: “This was a good example of information supplied from within the community being used to target an illegal operation of quite significant proportions.
“We would encourage anyone who suspects such activity to get in touch. Information is treated in the strictest confidence, yet can often be vital in enabling us to target the perpetrators.”
