Cyclist Killed at Fairlight

Appeal for witnesses to fatal collision in Fairlight Hastings

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision involving a cyclist and car on Battery Hill, Fairlight, near Hastings, shortly before 7am on Thursday (15 June).

Officers and paramedics attended to find the cyclist, a man aged in his 50s from Bexhill, had sustained serious injuries. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The car, a white Vauxhall Agila hatchback, was driven by an 88-year-old Hastings woman, who was uninjured.

The road was closed between Waites Lane and the top of Battery Hill while emergency services dealt with the incident. It was re-opened to traffic at 11.15am.

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in Hastings in February.

Hugh is Open for Business

Hugh is Down but Not Out

Hugh Sutton’s well loved little shop on the Winchelsea Beach road, was all but demolished by a car that drove into the side and out through the back at 12.30 am on Tuesday morning. Stock and shelving was destroyed and the building itself was left in danger of collapsing altogether.
