Many people have asked about the artist who provided last months cover picture of Mermaid Street . Beat rice Cloake from Hythe is the artist, she has been described as a romantic in modern times who writes poems in watercolour. We could not improve on this description of one of our favourite artists.
The Rye Arts Festival is well under way as we get Rye’s Own ready for the printer. From all accounts it has been another roaring success and if the crowds in the streets of Rye are anything to go by, the Hotels and Guest Houses of the town should be full to capacity.
In this great year of GB sporting achievements we hope many of you are planning to ride the sixth in the series of ‘Tour de Rye et Romney Marsh Cycle Fun Run’ organised by The Rotary Club of Rye and Winchelsea assisted by Rye & District Wheelers.
This year the event will take place on Sunday 14 October and start at the Rye Club in Market Road. Details and entry forms are available on line from http://rye-cycle.co.uk/rotaryride/ or you may enter on the day.
There are rides to suit every rider. The courses are all over flat ground 90% on quiet roads and cycle paths.
