Sellindge & District Residents have just announced the date for a massive demonstration against against Shepway’s plans for a ‘Garden Town’ for 12,000 houses and a Lorry Park for 3,600 lorries.
It is billed as the biggest protest Shepway has ever seen. Feelings are running very strong in Sellindge and surrounding villages against the massive exploitation and desecration of the farmland that will take place if these plans are allowed to proceed.
We include film here of the substantial demonstration by the village protest groups last August against these schemes – this one, planned for Saturday 22 April 2017, promises to be much larger
This is the notification published by Sellindge & District Residents Association today (2 March 2017)
A VERY SPECIAL DATE FOR ALL OF YOUR DIARIES.
After careful consideration and numerous calls from residents for a gathering, coupled with conversations with our alliance partners, a date and venue has been set for a GIANT RALLY.
Saturday 22 April at Hythe
We are looking to make this event the biggest demonstration that Shepway has ever seen.
The exact time and place are yet to be announced. We can say that there will be a number of guest speakers and a march will be taking place through the town.
You will all recall how successful our demonstration was last August with well over 750 residents in attendance.
And do we really have to tell you the reason for such a gigantic gathering? The continuing dismay surrounding the actions of Shepway District Council and it’s lack of transparency relating to unwanted and hideous developments within our communities.
More details will follow very shortly. In the meantime, please share on Social Media and SPREAD THE WORD – THANK YOU.
