Past and Present

Rye & District Wheelers have won the VTTA Reliability Trial Shield for the third year in succession. The event was the annual VTTA (Veteran Time Trial Association) Reliability Trial which started and finished at Bethersden on Sunday 3 February.

Competitors rode over a 35 or 50 mile circuit (their own choice) and had to finish in an allotted time to secure one point for their club. All twenty-five of the Rye riders finished inside their time limit and won the event by ten clear points from the Medway Road Club.

Thornton Road Club took third place with ten points. Over 130 took part on the crisp winter’s day.WEb2

WebSpecial mention must be made of Ros. Harrow, for her determination in the face of a painful arm injury sustained two weeks earlier and the encouragement of other riders, who saw her get round and win a point.Web1

               Trevor’s Amazing Winter Project

Trevor Bridge, Wheelers’ 12 Hour Champion has been spending the winter months on an amazing project, this great picture of the “recumbent” cycle that Trevor Bridge has built.web3

Many of his clubmates are wondering if he will ride in an evening ten on this odd looking velocipede.

Web Site is a Huge Success

The new Rye Wheelers Web site is proving a great success. Web Master Bob Burden is updating the entries on a daily basis. These pictures from the recent run to Headcorn are an example of the fine things to be found. The history of the club, records and pictures are all included. The site is to be found on ryewheelers. co.uk.
