Rye Fire Station Commander, Andy Polley has just completed 35 years service with Rye Firefighters.
This very personal message from his daughter Lucy
“I don’t write personal messages on Facebook but this one deserves it. Andy Polley ( my superhero Dad ) has served his community for 35 years as a firefighter and Watch Commander.
He and his brigade have saved so many people’s lives and in turn, put their lives in danger in an instant, without a second thought, just because it’s ‘their job’. Not enough appreciation is given to those in the emergency services and some of them, like my Dad, have day jobs too. These people are Heroes in their own right so please take a minute to think about someone like him.
I am so so proud to call Andy Polley my Dad, and he deserves the recognition xxxxxx”
Well done Andy, your daughter has summed it up much better than we could – Rye has been known for over 100 years to have one of the best Fire Services in the country manned by part time firefighters.
Andy Polley has lived up to and brought that proud tradition of the Rye Firefighters into the 21st. Century. He and his tough, special band of firemen have kept this town safe throughout the years.
