This very faded picture of The Strand, looking towards The Mill, shows the river at low tide and an area, on the ground where the Riverhaven Hotel now stands, alive with boat building activities.
It seems sad that the vast pool of boat building expertise that Rye once possessed has been diluted down so far that the few men left who have the k nowle d g e a r e probably too old to bu ild a no t he r clinker vessel even if they were asked.
