The next meeting of the Potteries of Rye Society will be held in Rye on Saturday 13 November 2004 at the Stormont Studio in Ockmans Lane. The meeting will include the Annual General Meeting but this will be only a brief part of the programme for the day which is:
1100 Coffee, chatting, buying and selling
1200 Review of pots brought along by members – the theme for this meeting is “The Sea” (so ships, fish, Buccaneers etc all welcome).
1230 Lunch
1400 AGM
1430 Talk with overhead slides by David Back – “20th Century Sussex Pottery”.
1530 Close
A one – off ashtray from the Cinque Ports Pottery c1960-64 by David Sharp in keeping with the theme “The Sea”.
Old Pier Penny Machines
Rye Heritage Centre has just opened a new Exhibition – An Exhibition of Old Pier Working Models and novelty games from the piers and arcades of the British Seaside. The many models include The Laughing Sailor, What the Butler Saw, The Haunted House, and The Beauty Parade. We are open every day from 9.30 to 5 Monday to Saturday and 10 to 5 on Sundays. Come and have a look and operate the machines with old one penny coins available from the change machine at the Heritage Centre.
