ONE OF RYE’S longest-established businesses has recently undergone a major expansion, acquiring new premises on Harbour Road.
Skinners of Rye have been looking after the transport needs of the local and wider community for over 150 years and today, with Managing Director Gary Barlow at the helm, that great tradition is set to continue.
The purchase of the new, 42,000 sq.ft site, on Harbour Road, has allowed Skinners to move their expanding workshop facilities from Fishmarket Road to the new purpose-built premises, with its nine hydraulic ramps, four-wheel alignment station, computerised paint shop and low-bake oven, increasing the company’s capacity to provide first-class servicing and repairs – facilities to rival, or exceed, any you would expect to find at a main dealership.
The move also means the company can increase its stock of quality used cars and also expand the current retail operation of the my Costcutter store in Fishmarket Road. Skinners’ existing car retail operation at New Road Rye (below) will continue unaffected. This development is not just good news for the business and its customers but is also projected to deliver 10 new jobs for local people, the first of which has already been advertised.
Skinners of Rye have built an enviable reputation for offering quality cars, and a quality servicing and repairs operation. Testimonials include one from a happy customer who wrote: “Blown away by your customer service … I think I’ve found my forever garage!”
Reviews on the Good Garage Scheme show a remarkable 99.7% of customers would recommend Skinners and use them again – testament indeed to the team and their quality of customer service.
M.D. Gary Barlow commented: “This expansion is great news for all my team at Skinners and also the local community. We are delighted that this development will result in local jobs as well as enabling our company to continue to deliver exceptional quality throughout our business – from car sales, servicing and repairs through to the my Costcutter store and our petrol forecourt. We have been overwhelmed with the support received both in person and through social media and would like to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement.”
