The Music Well which offers music therapy to the people of Rye and nearby villages has received a donation form Rye and District Lions Club.
The Lions donation of £300 will help The Music Well which is lead by music therapist, Liz Butt provides music therapy to many groups. The Music Well also promotes health and wellbeing through music for the community and the big advantage of these sessions is that participants do not need any musical skills as the instruments are all selected to be easy to play. Rye Lions have supported this group with annual donations since its establishment several years ago and this is their fifth donation, making a total of £1,600.
In presenting the donation, Malcolm McDonough, Rye Lions President, said “The Lions are only able to to make donations such as this due to the generosity of the public in supporting them when they are fundraising, such as their recent Christmas collections outside local supermarkets.” More information about The Music Well can be obtained by ringing 01797 227994 or at their website at www.themusicwell. org.uk .
Other donations made recently by the Lions include £250 to Rye Preschool Playgroup, £250 to the Association of Carers, £250 to Rye Wurlitzer Academy and £200 to the Sturge Weber Foundation UK. Their next fund-raising event is their “Proper” Burns Night Brass Band Concert at Beckley Village Centre on Friday 25 January, actually Burns Night this time.
