John Izod has joined Rye’s list of great characters. He has become known to almost everyone in the town. His efforts supporting Rye Bonfire Boys, Rye Community Buses and so many other local clubs, organisations and charities are
becoming legendary. He has always been an artist, and his unique brand of cartoons, drawings and watercolours are unmistakable. His ‘tongue in cheek’ humour has enlivened many events programmes and some of his cartoons have cast a critical eye over local politics and politicians. Last month “Rye’s Own” used
one of the water colours from his brand new publication ’16 DRAWINGS and WATERCOLOURS of RYE as a cover picture for the April magazine. The new booklet contains sixteen pictures on card, which can be taken out and used as postcards. The publication is available from local bookshops and and all proceeds, in a typical John Izod gesture, will be going to charity.
