| GATES OPEN AT 10AM EACH DAY FOR THE GREATEST CELEBRATION OF MILITARY VEHICLES AND VINTAGE LIFESTYLE ON THE PLANET.
The build up to this year’s War and Peace Revival is well and truly underway. Vehicles continue to pour in to Folkestone racecourse and the showground is bristling with groups and exhibitors setting out their displays. The range of military vehicles already here, including heavy armour is astounding and the Living History groups are digging in around the arena. In the center of the arena part of a ‘ruined village’ is the backdrop for the battles which take place each day of the show. KEEP UP TOP SPEED ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS
Away from the ‘front lines’ the stalls too have rapidly sprung up with lots of exciting military items and memorabilia being brought out ready to sell. The ‘Home Front’ and ‘Vintage Farm’ area looks amazing and promises to be a big attraction for show visitors. WW2 fighter aircraft are being assembled, with re-enactors completing the scene of the RAF waiting for the order to ‘Scramble’. The ‘Airfix Model Hall’ will have hundreds of scale models of aircraft, vehicles, figures and dioramas on display with professionals on hand to give you tips and advice on building your models.
A hundred years ago the ‘Great War’ was being fought and this is marked by the remarkable WW1 exhibition. Visitors will be able to walk through the trenched entrance and see the hundreds of WW1 exhibits on display from uniforms and equipment to personal effects. WW1 soldiers will present their personal stories of the Somme and explain how the battle was fought.
An important element of the show has always been the Veterans Day, where we remember and show our gratitude for all those who have served their country and given so much. On Saturday 23rd July 2016, we will be holding a short parade followed by a service given by a Military Chaplin. |
