Goodbye Jimper – You Have Touched So Many Lives

Jimper  Leaves Rye for the Last Time

The funeral for Jimper at St. Mary’s Church was a very special event. Saying goodbye to a person whose presence was so powerful and who filled any room he entered, was not easy.

A very sad occasion was made so much easier in the knowledge that Jimper himself would have approved of all the arrangements that were made by his family and the wonderful support the Bonfire Boys gave by attending in Bonfire Dress and drumming him to the Church.

The August 2016 issue of “Rye’s Own” will be a Jimper Memorial issue to celebrate the life a man who has done so much for Rye and entertained so many people with his stories and books over the past 50 years.

Jimper has been “Rye’s Own’s” most prolific contributor since he first provided “Jimper’s Jottings” in 1966.

Everyone at “Rye’s Own” is thinking of Heather, Una, Clare, James, Tilly and Madisun.

Jimper has gone but his legacy will live on in his stories.
