Rye & District U3A

(University of the Third Age) is an organisation for everyone who has retired from full time work. Do not be put off by the word ‘University’. We are for you, whether you have any formal qualifications or not and wherever your interests lie.

The spirit of the U3A is that everyone both learns and shares their skills. The U3A is a thriving organisation with, in October 2012, 865 branches and 295050 members in the UK, the branches are independent but have support from the national organisation. Our branch has over 200 members and rising.

Last year we celebrated 10 years of our U3A in Rye and 30 years of the National organisation.

We hold a general meeting at the Rye Community Centre at 2pm on the third Monday of every month, except August and September. Few formalities, good speakers, a friendly meeting with time for tea and biscuits and a chat. We have over 27 groups running their own programmes covering a very wide range of interests and activities.

A newsletter is published monthly and a mini magazine twice yearly.

Membership costs just £12 a year and new members are always welcome. Come along to any monthly meeting. You can come along as a guest in the first instance.
