Rye & District Camera Club Report

The club resumes activities on Monday 6th September, meetings are held at Playden WI Hall, at 7-30 pm every fortnight. The first meeting is called the “Chairman’s Meeting”, this is when the Chairman invites members new and old, to show the club what they have done over the summer recess. The season runs from September to April, and the current programme of events will be explained in full at this first meeting.picture9

This season we have many new speakers sharing their knowledge with us, as well as outings, practical demonstrations, club competitions judged by professionals. The club is a mixture of talent, some just starting out in photography, some experienced semipros, whilst others just come to watch and enjoy the images that others produce. Anyone is welcome to come and look, there is no obligation to join straight away, as the first two meetings potential new members attend, are free.

One of last season’s new members, Stuart Thompson, won many of our club competitions with his brilliant photographs, he will be presented with certificates and silverware which he was awarded, but unable to collect last April. He has also been successful gaining his Licentiates from the Royal Photographic Society, so we’ll be giving him a big “pat on the back” for all his hard work.

One of the first major events the club hosts, is it’s annual print exhibition, on Saturday 18th September. This FREE event is the club members chance to show their talent to the public, It’s held at the Community Learning Centre, in Lion Street, and is open from 10am till 6 pm. Come and support the club and enjoy the beautiful photography it produces, you will not be disappointed. Further information can be found on our website www.rdcc.co.uk
