What a great Christmas Rye has got to look forward to. Carol Concert at St. Mary’s, Mother Christmas and her Elves, a Bucking Reindeer, Christmas Market, real Reindeer, Street Performances all round town and on the Town Hall Steps.
A fantastic Dickensian Parade around the Town and the official Switching on of the Christmas Lights plus a fantastic feature for Cinque Ports Street – An Ice Rink.
The Mayor of Rye, Councillor Berni Fiddimore, one of the prime movers behind the Christmas Festival, will be judging a “Rye in Lights Best Lit Window” Competition that will be open to anyone in the town who has a private house window facing the road in any street in Rye. The Mayor herself will be judging this event and asks that all those entering put the lights in their window on at 4 pm every evening from the 5/20 December.
Those attending any of the events are asked to come in some kind of Victorian outfit if possible to add to the atmosphere of this themed occasion. The procession is being master minded by a Theatrical Producer and promises to be the best ever seen in the town.
