The B.B.C. moved in on the Rye Auction Galleries recently to make an edition of their new antiques programme “Flogit”

The programme, which goes out on consecutive days sometime in April, features Paul Martin as programme presenter and involves twenty antique or collectable items that have been selected for sale at the Rye Auction house. The owners of each item were at the sale to see the fate of their treasured possesions. Most made very good prices and their were some delighted people among the vendors. The sale proved to be the best auction at Rye for over two years with lots reaching very high prices. A Georgian garden seat realised £1,550 and an Edwardian Bureau Bookcase attracted bidding to £4,000. Andrew Paine reported an excellent attendance and said he had enjoyed the experience of being in front of the cameras. Hazel Duckworth, the Galleries expert on china and small antiques, was also featured exhibiting the lots as they came up for sale. The B.B.C. have great hopes for “Flogit” which will go out nationwide.
