Another bumper Open Day as record numbers attend Buckswood Open Day
Buckswood School in Guestling was a hive of activity over the weekend as record numbers visited the school at the second Open Day of the year. Over 70 people called in throughout the morning to meet teaching staff, take a tour, meet the School’s dog, peacocks, snakes, chickens and rabbits; and find out more about the education on offer at the international day and boarding school in Hastings. As well as being extremely busy, the day was also eventful with the School nursing team dealing with an Open Day attendee’s epileptic fit and a pause in proceedings caused by a fire alarm.
PR and Marketing Manager Vicki Ireland said “with students from 44 nations represented at Buckswood and the diversity of culture and courses on offer at the school, we are an attractive alternative for those parents looking for an education with a little bit more for their children. We were thrilled at the number of families who came to see the school and what it has to offer at the Open Day which is incredible in the current economic climate ”.
The success of this weekend’s Open Day follows on from the record numbers that attended the School’s Open Day in November, and the school is welcoming a record number of local primary school children to the school for try-out Taster Days. To cope with the increase in demand Buckswood have already opened up an extra Form 1 class next year; to ensure that class sizes are kept small and the level of personal attention high. The Buckswood Sixth Form is also showing strong performance with the International Baccalaureate, A Level, Duke of Edinburgh and professional Financial Services qualifications being a strong draw for those looking to maximise their chances of university entrance by taking advantage of the school’s Sixth Form success. “I am very proud of Buckswood track record of 100% university placement that we have built up over the last twelve years” said School Director Mr Giles Sutton. “The school motto is ‘we prepare for life’ and I believe that the classroom exp e r i e n c e , combined with the wealth of extra-curricular activities, t r i ps and learning enhancement we offer at Buckswood; makes our students stand out from the crowd and is the reason they are selected by universities and e m p l o y e r s above others. Our students leave B u c k swo o d equipped with the life-skills, qualifications, portfol io of firsthand experience and the confidence to succeed in life”
