The Rye Partnership, in co-operation with Rother D.C. has just installed a further round of seagull-proof, branded litter-bins in Rye. Working against the clock, eleven new bins were installed in selected locations throughout the town just in time for the Britain in Bloom judging on August 3rd.
Included in this phase are 2 of our first, co-sponsored ones – by St. Mary’s Church (in picture).
Said Bob Baldwin, one of the Churchwardens of St. Mary’s, pictured inspecting the new-style bins at the Church with Yolanda Laybourne, Rye Town Manager – “Visitors to the Church were very good about filling the old open-topped bins but, unfortunately, the seagulls would spread the contents overnight!
Hopefully, the new bins will prevent such bad behaviour by the gulls in future.”
