We’ll Meet Again Twenty two classmates and partners met for a reunion at the Riverhaven Hotel on 26 May. The class of 1952 at Rye Secondary Modern School were joined by some of their friends from the same era and enjoyed an evening of good food and fond reminiscences.
The group was fairly unique, many being part of an experimental year that was invited to sit exams for a special class at Rye Grammar School. This ‘Technical Course’ as it was called, was only run for two years so those that did pass the exam and take part were quite a select few.
Fifty years on as they wined and dined the talk was of chums from the past, what they had achieved, where they had been and how, in most cases, they were enjoying their retirement.
Three friends at the re-union. June Woolley of Rye Pottery fame, Sylvia Hewitt (Sperring) from Oregon U.S.A and Ann Leitch (Adair), formerly of the Crown Inn), from Bournemouth.
