The first ever Sussex Festival of Art was held on Friday evening 16th July from 6.00pm to 10.00pm and on Saturday 17th July from 10.00am to 5pm in The Main Hall of the Thomas Peackocke Community College. Work from over 30 artists was so diverse and creatively displayed visitors felt they were walking through a gallery setting rather than the rather stark hall of the college. Back ground music and displays of foliage and flowers by Williams Bros. added to the atmosphere and softened the space. The range of works included paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photography, jewellry, millinery and textiles by local, national, and even internationally known artists. Ann Cockerham, Principal, was delighted to announce the event raised £4,800 of which £2,000 will be given to the Thomas Pecocke college to equip their media department with greatly needet cam recorders and digital cameras.
