They came from all over the World to enjoy an evening together at The Fish Cafe. Some had not seen each other for fifty years. John Barnes, who has lived in California for many years, organised the event which was a resounding success. Plans are already being made for another gathering in a few years time .
The following day most of the group visited their old school, now The Thomas
Peacocke College, to look at the changes. The building they knew was hardly
recognisable among the mass of extensions made over the years. Memories of the
then Headmaster Dr. Jacobs and the strict discipline he enforced came flooding
back. The general consensus was that education in those days produced a higher
percentage of successful pupils because teachers had the respect of the students.
