This years Presidents Night for the Rotary Club of Rye & Winchelsea was held at a local hotel the Hope Anchor. Despite the ravages of a flu bug seemingly raging in the area which resulted in many last minute cancellations, it was a well attended dinner. Roger Evans the Rye Rotary President ran through the main events of the year so far including the monies raised for good causes and thanked everyone for attending.
The immediate past president of the Rye Lions Terry Cobby was also in attendance joining in the fun as was Brian Purdy the President of the Rotary club Hastings. It was the Hastings club, way back in 1948, who decided to create the Rye & Winchelsea club, and due to this there were numerous references to father figures, gestation periods, motherhood etc with Rye and Winchelsea Rotary portrayed jokingly it was hoped as the young upstarts.
