Raises the Profile of Music Therapy in Rye.
On Saturday 26 May a concert was held in St. Marys Church to raise funds for the Otakar Kraus Music Trust who provide music therapy for the Rye Community.
The programme featured popular operative arias and a stunning duet for trumpet and organ,Sonata Prima by Vivani It was provided by Opera Unlimited, a group of professional singers who donate their time for the Music Trust.
An audience of around 100 enjoyed being swept up in the enthusiastic presentation from the group of seven performers whose programme included Puccini’s Nessun Dorma and excerpts from La Traviata by Verdi.
Liz Butt, the Music Therapist who works for the Otakar Kraus Music Trust in Rye, was thrilled with the event which raised just over £1,200 for the latest music therapy project for Rye children, focusing on the ‘excluded’ child. This aims to support those children and young people who, for one reason or another, feel excluded from life, socially, educationally, emotionally or physically.
Opera Unlimited enjoyed their day out in Rye and found the Rye audience very receptive and appreciative. They are thinking of making it an annual event!
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Music Therapy project for Rye.
