Breakdown Youth Theatre is a Children’s Charity, based in Rye. The
aim is to provide activities connected to the Theatre, these include,
performing in productions, set design and building, lighting, sound,
wardrobe and stage managing. Formed two and a half years ago, the society is completely self funding and is run by a small group of committed volunteers. All monies raised are immediately put back in tothe society.
Past productions include ‘The Bumblesnouts Save the World’,
‘The Matchgirls’, ‘Into the Spotlight’, ‘Oliver’ and most recently
‘Smike’ a musical loosely based on Nicholas Nickleby. The next production will be a huge undertaking for the organisers, as the company will be the first group in the South East to stage the record breaking musical ‘Les Miserables’. Over the next few months all efforts are being channelled into raising money to produce this breathtaking show, whilst actively searching out the thirty plus strong cast of under nineteen year olds, ready to commence rehearsals early in 2004. Readers able to help financially in any way please send your donation to “Breakdown Youth Theatre” registered charity No. 1092694, 146 Udimore Road, Rye, East Sussex TN31 7DZ. Those wishing to audition to be part of this magnificent event should contact Sharon Brodie on 01797 227533, during office hours.
