Water Off in Rye

Advance warning supply disruption in Rye and surrounding areas
19/10/2017
We’re currently working hard to fix a burst on a 14.5” pipe, which was discovered in a rural area near Brede in the early hours of this morning.

Unfortunately, in order to safely repair it as quickly as possible, we’ll need to interrupt water supplies to around 2,500 residents in the TN31 to TN36 postcode areas from 11AM today. We are working hard to fix the problem as soon as possible.

We are already working closely with the vulnerable customers who will be affected by this and we will be establishing water distribution points for other residents if it becomes necessary.

We are also sending tankers to top up the reservoir supplied by the burst pipe.

We apologies for any inconvenience and thank everyone affected for their understanding and patience whilst we carry out these emergency repairs.

Riot at Camber

“Rye’s Own” – Only News Media to Pick Up the Story

Strangely there were no reports of the event on Radio or Television even though locals were talking of 60 riot policemen and armed police at the scene. The Continue reading Riot at Camber

The Sheriff of Cinque Ports Street

A Man with Immense Respect

Dan Bevan is the nearest thing to a Sheriff that Rye has ever had. For the past four years he has been patrolling the town getting on top of vandalism, petty offences and often being involved with more serious crimes.

Since those bad old days of 2001 and 2002, by which time Rye’s quota of police had slipped from 49 in 1966 to just six (none of whom were able to undertake Continue reading The Sheriff of Cinque Ports Street

Rye Fire & Rescue

Rye Fire & Rescue vehicle, with lights flashing and siren blasting answers yet another call.

Rye firefighters have always had the reputation of being one of the best units in Sussex and Kent despite the fact that they are all part timers doing other jobs and only make a dash for the fire station when their bleepers sound. Continue reading Rye Fire & Rescue 2005
