Royal Horticultural Society Banksian Medal Won by Lorna Hall

On Saturday 5th September, the Community Centre was once again the venue for Rye’s Annual Flower and Vegetable show. This year’s event attracted over 200 entries and despite the challenging weather conditions the gardeners of Rye and surrounding area put on a great show. Campaign For A Democratic Rye

The work of the Campaign for a Democratic Rye Group is aimed entirely at restoring power and decision making locally. It seeks to encourage Rye Councillors to face up to Rother and claim back what was taken from it in 1974. At the Public Meeting, held at the Rye Community Centre in November the numbers of people attending were a bit better than those that attend meetings of the Town Council, perhaps there is a message here somewhere. “FANTASTICTURN OUT”

The Rye in Bloom committee were absolutely delighted with the fantastic turn out of entries and visitors to their first Flower and Vegetable Show at the Community Centre last Saturday. Entries from all over Rye and surrounding areas came in thick and fast and there were over 160 exhibits of fruit, vegetables, handicraft and flowers on display showing how versatile and keen Rye gardeners are.
