This year the Rye Christmas Festival will commence on Saturday 6th December. Father Christmas will arrive in a beautiful horse drawn carriage escorted by a brilliant procession of pipers, drummers, bands and performing artist’s, followed by a spectacular display of fireworks. This photograph of Watchbell street was taken by Edwin Thomas Gasson of 21, King Street (Landgate); his most active period as a photographer seems to have been 1870 – 1881 but earlier photographs are known.
